Our Summer Getaway at Limberlost
A week ago today our time in Ontario was up, but before our departure, we thought it would be lovely to visit Limberlost Forest and Wildlife Reserve again; but this time in the summer.
Our first time at Limberlost was last autumn when the trees were a beautiful red, and golden, and the time after that we went on a snowshoeing adventure on the frozen lake.
This time we stayed at Solitaire Lodge-a beautiful cottage that sleeps 18 people comfortably.
We walked into the front door and scattered excitedly like children running into every room and calling out to each other.
The 8 of us picked our rooms and continued to explore our home for the next 2 nights.
There was more than enough room in the living room for everyone with plenty of comfortable sofas, and even a sweet little reading room.
The kitchen was very well stocked with plates, pots, pans, utensils, and much more for everything we needed for our meals.
We even had 2 refrigerators.
All of our meals were enjoyed at the beautiful long oak table, and after eating we would retreat to the deck on the 2nd floor that was attached to 2 separate bedrooms.
In the mornings we also enjoyed our coffee on the deck overlooking the land and lake.
The boys made good use of the large open field leading to the lake for bocci ball, and the girls enjoyed the lake and the warm weather.
There are several trails for hiking, and jogging, and every cottage is outfitted with either canoes, kayaks, or both!
In the evenings we used the amazing sauna on the 1st floor, and then cozied up next to the big beautiful fire in the outdoor fire pit.
Sitting in silence and staring deep into a fire is one of my favourite parts about being outdoors.
That, and the peaceful lake.
