Fivelements Puri Ahimsa, Bali, Indonesia
Fivelements Puri Ahimsa is an award winning hotel and spa located in Bali, Indonesia.
Their focus is on self awareness and non harm, with an emphasis on living foods that energize and heal. Engulfed in nature this sanctuary is the perfect location to focus on the self, be present, and enjoy the moment.
Cody and I arrived at Fivelements Puri Ahimsa on a beautiful sunny day excited to start our private raw vegan cooking course, but unfortunately there was a problem. We were warmly greeted upon arrival, and were checked in, but when we mentioned that we had the cooking course booked, we were told that they were not aware of it, and that they would get back to us.
We were taken to our room, and as we expected it was relaxing, elegant, and tropical. Our stone bath was outdoors and facing the river with butterflies fluttering by, and the sounds of nature filling our ears.
Our room was cool, thanks to the beautiful organic looking fan circulating tropical air around us. Our bed was beautiful, but more importantly, comfortable.
The bathroom is what dreams are made of. I could happily live in it. Open air, palm trees in view, waterfall shower, and the sounds of the river steps away.
I lit the lavender incense, took my time in the shower, then made a pot of green tea, wrapped myself in a cotton robe, and lounged on the day bed.
Our phone rang, and front desk was on the other end. “Hello Ms. Giselle, I’m calling about the cooking class, I’m sorry, but it is not possible today.”
I let Cody know the news. We were both bummed out for a while as the class was one of the main reasons for being there, but we quickly snapped out of it, as we knew how fortunate we were to just be where we were. We looked around and reminded ourselves that we still have the whole day and evening to enjoy, and a 5 course living food dinner to sample.
The Sakti dining room at Fivelements is natural, tranquil, and constructed completely out of bamboo.
Water flows through the restaurant filled with dancing koi fish, and staff cut lemon grass directly from the water for use in recipes.
Our dining experience that evening was wonderful. We sampled a delicious 5 course raw vegan meal that was full of flavour, elegance, and beauty. Below are photos of our incredible dinner.
Amuse Bouche of roasted eggplant topped with cashew cheese.
Mango puree, fresh corn, red bell peppers, cilantro, and jalapeño, bundled in a green wonton, served with swirled spinach and tamarind curry dipping sauce.
Live soup, avocado, tomatoes, celery, and bean sprouts with miso-saffron broth, sprinkled with nori, green scallions, and fresh dill.
Fresh seaweed tossed with baby carrots, young coconut, and jicama in ginger torch vinaigrette, with confit of tomatoes, scallions, and sesame seeds.
Beet Mille Feuille
Pine nut “ricotta” cheese blended with chives, basil, and radishes, stuffed between truffle-marinated beetroots dressed with aged balsamic reduction and chilli basil oil.
Lemongrass Soursop Panna Cotta
Soursop cream, young coconut, Bali moss, and clarified cacao butter, flavoured with lemongrass and served with macerated strawberries.
Every dish was fully raw vegan and bursting with life and flavour. We were not left feeling hungry-or worse- feeling full and heavy. We had a very peaceful and delicious time at Five Elements.
Fivelements Puri Ahimsa is a wonderful experience to have while in Bali. Even if you don’t have the time or money to stay in one of their beautiful rooms, you can choose to spend a day there and indulge in one of the many packages they offer.
Enjoy a massage and lunch, take their cooking class, or make use of a day at their beautiful pool.
