Hogtown Vegan, Toronto Ontario
Whenever we’re in Toronto we try to visit as many Vegan restaurants as possible.
This Christmas and New Year we were home, so we decided to have our last meal of 2013 at The Hogtown Vegan.
The Hogtown Vegan offered a 4 course Prix Fixe New Years Eve Dinner.
Potato Rosemary Soup with Focaccia Crisps
The Potato Rosemary soup was delicious. The amount of Rosemary was perfect; not over powering like the white bean rosemary soup I made the other day.
Pistachio-Cranberry Arugula Salad with White Wine Vinaigarette
This salad was a simple salad, and nice for the holiday season. Arugula has a nice peppery flavor that went nicely with the sweet cranberries, and tangy white wine vinaigarette.
Roasted Butternut and Bacony garlic Collard Greens
We looooove collard greens! Especially garlicky collard greens. Another simple dish, but full of flavour.
Braised Tempeh Steaks with roasted butternut squash.
This main was really delicious, and they were not skimpy on the food. The braised tempeh had a nice nutty taste, and we weren’t left full after we were done. Cody loved it so much he finished off our two friend’s leftovers as well!
Sticky Toffee Pudding with Coconut Whipped Cream
Mmmmm sticky Toffee pudding. Our first vegan experience with this decadent dessert was a success! Sweet, gooey, and frickin delicious!
We didn’t even get a chance to shoot a photo of the dessert. It was that good.
If you didn’t make it to The Hogtown Vegan for their New Years Eve dinner, try their regular menu. We recommend the “peppersteak” and dumplings, the unchicken and waffles, and the unchicken ceasar wrap.
Everything we have eaten here is delicious!
