Puri Ganesha Villas, Pemuteran, Indonesia
Diana Von Cranach is a vibrant eccentric woman who happens to be an Egyptologist, a raw vegan chef, and the owner of the brilliant Puri Ganesha Villas in Northern, Bali.
So much goodness to stuff it all into one review, so this will be our hotel review, and her incredible food will be under our vegan food reviews.
I have to say, it is difficult to begin without just screaming out “THIS PLACE IS DIVINE!! EVERYONE MUST EXPERIENCE IT!!” Ok there…….I said it. That feels better.
Cody and I arrived at Puri Ganesha Villas after a beautiful 3 hour scenic drive through Bali.
Our driver drove straight into a separate driveway and said “here is your room”
We walked into what we thought was a living room of a house converted into reception (there is no reception) and were greeted by a staff member who brought us upstairs to our room on the second floor. Wrapped around the room was a hefty wooden porch that offered a beautiful view of a beautiful Ganesha swimming pool, the well kept grounds, and the salty sea.
We walked into our room and looked around. A Wooden canopy bed draped in soft cotton, beautiful antique Indonesia furniture, high bamboo ceilings, and wall to wall glass windows is what awaited us.
“I guess we get this room and not a whole villa…… That’s fine, it’s big and beautiful” I say.
“Yeah, and a shared pool downstairs” Cody replies.
(I laugh while writing this, because we were quite mistaken)
We start finding little messages on cute wicker boxes reminiscent of Alice In Wonderland:
“Here is your Puri Ganesha Villas welcome basket, containing a few things you might need while you are here:
-a happy coat for being just that
-a pair of flip flops to flop around in (feel free to take them with you when you leave)
-a bottle of the gentlest nicest smelling mosquito repellent
We decide to venture downstairs to “reception” to explore further.
We open a beautifully carved wooden door that leads us to another bathroom, and find another message:
“This box is to put your pills, creams, and expensive cosmetics in, pease don’t forget that we are in the tropics, so we might occasionally have little visitors”
“I think this whole house is ours Giselle” Cody says.
We walk outside noticing that there is a wall on either side of the villa, and a villa on each side of each wall, with its own private pool.
“WOW” I say…….”the photos online do not do this place any justice, this place is incredible!”
We realize that this three bedroom villa with a private pool is indeed ours.
Now, we have stayed in many beautiful luxurious hotels, resorts, spas, etc….. But this is us-in our element.
We find an information binder on our porch and learn that we have two or three butlers to help us with whatever we may want or need. WHAT??!! This is a very new experience for us, and a little uncomfortable at first, but we quickly get used to it.
We are brought a menu and are asked when and where we would like to have dinner. Wow…… well……..we never really thought of it. We look over at the dining table by the pool and choose to have almost all of our meals there.
We also have a dining table inside should we choose to dine indoors, but with the sounds of the Sea steps away, we opt for dining outdoors everyday.
Our whole four days at Puri Ganesha Villas, we barely leave our villa, except for our few drinks and chats with Diana in the lounge area by the Sea, and to make chili paste one late morning; we feel very comfortable in our holiday home.
Diana designed all four villas herself. They are filled with beautiful Indonesian antique wooden furniture, paintings, and fresh flowers sprinkled around everywhere.
The feel of the villas and the grounds is laid back luxury. The villas are non-pretentious and tropical. Waking up in the morning was like being in the best dream, or best reality.
The restaurant and spa are vividly coloured with popping pinks, yellows, and blues.
Although Puri Ganesha Villas Are luxurious, relaxing, and absolutely stunning, even with three butlers at your service all day and evening, there for your every whim, the feeling here is one of pure relaxation and fun. It is not stuffy, or snobby. Diana wants every guest to do what they want, (within reason) wear what they want (also within reason) and just be yourself, breathe in the sea air, do a cannon ball into your pool, and enjoy every second of your time there………And we did just that.
We cannot say enough good things about our time at Puri Ganesha Villas. it still lingers dreamily in our minds. We are very excited to plan another visit with a few of our closest friends and family.
