Somerset Sukhumvit Thonglor Bangkok

The Sukhumvit area of Bangkok is our favourite place to stay in the big city, so we decided to stay again.

It is full of life and energy, and there are countless restaurants and food stands to sample. The nightlife never dies, and it is a favourite destination for a variety of travellers, as well as expats.

Somerset Sukhumvit Thonglor Bangkok (The Ascott Limited) is where we had the pleasure of staying this time. It is a fully serviced residence in a pretty perfect location. The residence offers recreational and business services, as well as all the comforts and luxuries one would want while working away from home. They offer 262 well appointed residences from a studio apartment, to one and two bedroom layouts.  All apartments include a fully equipped kitchen, home entertainment system, complimentary wifi internet access, and telephone with IDD.

Conveniently, Somerset Sukhumvit  Thonglor Bangkok is a short walk away from the Thonglor skytrain station.

The lobby at Somerset Sukhumvit Thonglor Bangkok is very spacious and stylishly designed in modern and elegant black and white. The concierge and front desk staff were very helpful and friendly.

The lobby is also equipped with  computers and free wifi.

We had just arrived in Bangkok from Toronto after over 20 hours of travel. Our room was so lovely to look at but even more comfortable to make use of.

We walked in to find a fully equipped kitchen (that we made use of), a warmly lit bathroom, and a beautiful room filled with natural light. We looked at each other and smiled. The manager of Somerset Sukhumvit Thonglor Bangkok, Hanae Yano, was very kind and left us a personal note welcoming us with a tropical fruit basket and some peanuts. It is the small personal touches that count.

Our bed was extremely comfortable to catch up on sleep, and the space felt like our own apartment. Our living room was lovely, allowing us to relax on the sofa while catching up on some neglected work while on vacation in Canada, and when we needed a break from work, we split up the time by enjoying the view from our balcony, or using their complimentary wifi.

I have a soft spot in my heart for bathrooms, especially if they have a tub. Cody and I travel a lot, and we find that most of the places we stay in are not equipped with a bath tub, so extra points to Somerset Sukhumvit Thonglor Bangkok. The bathroom was clean,  simple, and well kept.

The one bedroom executive apartment is designed with modern amenities, contemporary furnishings, and the space required for short or long stays in Bangkok.

The private bedroom, ensuite bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, and living room with an entertainment centre, allows you to live as you would in your own home.

WOW. We loved the breakfast at Marbles restaurant and wine bar! The restaurant is located on the 9th floor. The breakfast buffet had a variety of food to our liking. As well as offering  typical western breakfast choices, there was a variety of Japanese food available as well. We especially enjoyed the fermented soy beans, tofu, Japanese rice, and seaweed. There is seating inside the restaurant, as well as outside by the pool so you can enjoy the Bangkok city view. Marbles restaurant and wine bar offers Thai and Italian cuisine plus a wide selection of wines.

The Infinity Pool (9th floor) is gorgeous, especially when the sun is setting. The pinks and oranges reflecting off of the skyscrapers create a beautiful view while relaxing. There is also a steam room, Jacuzzi, sauna, fitness centre, and indoor children’s playroom.

This is one sexy looking place and it’s one of the best we’ve seen from Bangkok. I love the modern design and the feel of the rooms, like a tranquil place to come back to after a busy day exploring in the city.

      Hey Linda,

It was even nicer in person. We had a nice evening swim surrounded by the city lights.
