The last time I was at Disney World I was about 5 years old, and it was magic.
I was in awe of everything around me, from the fairy princesses to Micky Mouse waving at me, to Tweedle dee and Tweedle dum.
There were happy children everywhere-including myself, my cousins, and a few grown ups too!
This time at 36 years of age, it wasn’t quite that magical, but it still held a spark that kept me in the moment enjoying everything around me.
Of course I had to buy these awesome Minnie ears
Tokyo Disneyland was built in 1983, but it doesn’t look much older than a few years, and if I hadn’t already known that Disney was an American company, I would have definitely guessed that it was created by the Japanese.
Not only were children skipping around with big smiles on their faces wearing Mickey and Minnie ears, but most every adult turned into a big kid donning Goofy ears and Donald duck beaks.
Couples walked around proudly in Maleficent hats, and Mad Hatter numbers.
Naturally I decided to join in, (anything to be in costume) and I purchased a pair of classic Minnie Mouse ears that proudly sat on my head for the day.
Our day at Tokyo Disneyland was spent exploring the grounds, meeting Mickey Mouse, standing in awe at the gargantuan Disney parades that swept through the park every few hours, being silly, and standing in line for all of the fun rides.
For the record- the ride Space Mountain was the winner at Tokyo Disneyland.
It is an indoor roller coaster ride that reaches incredible speeds, and whips you around in complete darkness while sometimes revealing glimpses of stars and the track your car is on.
The second time wasn’t so bad.
It was the most popular ride at the park, and our last for the night. We even had to get advanced tickets for the ride because it’s that popular.
Our time at Tokyo Disneyland was totally worth it! We skipped around the park, filled our bellies with sugar and french fries, and got dizzy on all of the rides.
Look!!! It’s Mickey Mouse!!
Our 2 weeks in Japan wouldn’t have been complete without visiting the Magical Kingdom.
Have you ever been to a Disney Amusement park before?
