Toronto World Pride 2014
There are very few festivals, events, occasions, etc that we arrange our travels around. Toronto World Pride is one of them.
We have attended Toronto Pride every year since Cody moved to Toronto and it is always the most amazing, positive, and loving time.
This year was a little more special because it was World Pride, and our friend Josh flew in from California to stay with us for the week. We took Josh all around the city and showed him a good time.
We had a great time all week going to different venues, and celebrating with people from all around the world.
Pride is a time to show your support for human rights. It is a time to look back and see how far we’ve come. It’s a time to celebrate people’s differences, similarities, and break down gender limitations put on everyone in this world.
Let’s face it, many of us just don’t fit the typical male/female gender definitions.
Girls can look like boys, boys can look like girls, some boys should have been girls, and some girls should have been boys. And those who feel they are in the wrong body have every right to make the transition to being a happy individual without having to deal with harassment, and hate.
There are even some who don’t identify with being male or female. Who are we to judge and persecute any human being who doesn’t fit into what they are told they should be by a majority of people who were also told they should look and act a certain way?
It is time to challenge gender stereotypes and the gender binary system. Humans are complex sensitive beings. We cannot just be stuffed into one of two options.
To us pride encompasses love and acceptance.
It is the kind of world we want to live in.
It sounds like a great experience, I completely agree with your opinions about being a happy individuals no matter how we look like, who we are attracted to and who we decide to love. Enough with stereotypes! 🙂
Franca, it was the one thing we knew we had to be home for. If you and Dale ever get the chance to come over to Canada, you should plan for Pride and we could all go together. It is such a beautiful experience. We will continue to go every year (I guess that depends if we are in Canada 🙂 )
I frickin love this post! I agree 100% with everything you have said! Let’s just let people be who they are, whoever that is, and celebrate them for them, instead of trying to make everybody fit into this category or that category.
Besides, everybody in those photos looks like they are having SO MUCH FUN! Every day should be like that! 😀

My neighbour arranged for a group of us to march and it was so much fun. I have to say I love that Pride in Toronto isn’t just celebrated by one neighborhood but the entire city. It makes me proud to live here.
We’re very happy to be from a city that is so accepting and open minded. Feels great!

It would be amaaaaaaaaazing to have one in Chiang Mai, and we think it would probably go down well 🙂
Oh, we SO wish we could have been a part of this event! I remember hearing that Toronto would be the host for World Pride about 4 years ago. But, we’re horrible at planning THAT far in the future 😉 Looks like a great time!
We can always go to next years event in Madrid, Spain!!
